News and Announcements
We hope you all enjoyed the break. Summer workouts will resume tomorrow. Please make sure that your player comes with a face mask and their own bottle of water for the day.
We had a varsity player test positive for Covid. He is asymptomatic, but was tested because he had a positive family member. In order to maintain a quarantine period, we have pushed our return after the 4th back from Monday the 6th to Wednesday the 8th. We will work out Wednesday through Friday the first week back and then return to our normal Monday through Thursday schedule.
When we return on July 8, EVERY PLAYER NEEDS TO BE WEARING A MASK AS THEY APPROACH THE SCHOOL. We will keep these on when we are in close quarters.
Be mindful during the break.
Good Morning Bobcats
Tonight we are having a quick meeting for incoming JV Parents about what to expect this coming season and answer any questions you have about the football program. We will meet on the top field at Buchholz at 7:30 pm. For our Varsity parents and last year JV parents, we will be having our usual parent meeting hopefully soon. We will let you know as soon as it is planned.
Also, the Bobcat Spirit Shop is back open and ready for you to purchase your Bobcat gear! It will remain open through Sunday.
So we got excited a little too soon. Today Principal Tenbeig thought that Varsity could start back immediately and informed Coach Whittemore of such, but the Alachua County School Guidelines were just sent and unfortunately we can not start until Monday, June 8th. We are sorry for the confusion as we are just trying to sort it all out.
So now Varsity workouts will begin Monday, June 8th at 8am (this includes all players that have attended Buchholz and played last year both JV & Varsity). Then only incoming 9th grade students, rising 8th graders will start also on Monday, June 8th at 6pm. Again Coach Whittemore said he will update the players through HUDL.
This will give returning players additional time to get their physicals and forms filled out before Monday. By the way for anyone needing a physical, CareSpot is doing sport physicals for $25 (sometimes that is cheaper than your co-pay). You can schedule online at any of their locations. I did my sons yesterday and we were in and out in 15 minutes.
I apologize also for saying that you can pay on our website, apparently our new website doesn’t have the link so please send check or cash with your son on Monday. The summer workout fee is $125.
Coach also wanted me to remind players again to bring their own water bottle and face mask.
Lastly, many parents have been asking for Bobcat spirit wear. We can now order directly from Baker Sports and it will get delivered straight to your home. They will also be adding a “Mom” shirt tomorrow for those interested. This link will be good through June 14th. Here is the link: https://buchholzfootball2020.itemorder.com/
Hi Bobcat Families,
Hoping you are all staying safe and healthy. Today I received word from Coach Whittemore that Summer Workouts can begin starting with Phase 1 of National High School Football Guidelines. He wants to assure all parents that they will be doing at least the minimum required safety precautions including temperature checks, sanitation stations, etc.
Starting tomorrow, Wednesday, June 3rd at 8am Varsity will begin workouts. Please have your player bring their forms if they have not yet turned them in including the EL3 and EL2 forms that you can find under documents on this website. They will also need to bring their own jug of water as the school cannot provide shared water bottles for the team. Coach is also asking that each payer bring face masks with them. Tell your player to check their HUDL account for more specific information from Coach Whittemore.
Rising 9th graders will start their summer workouts on June 8th at 6pm. Again please have your player bring their forms EL2, EL3 and for incoming freshman GA7. Also their own water jug and face mask.
All workouts will run Monday through Thursday. The Varsity team will NOT have a team camp in Valdosta this year from July 7-9. All overnight team camps have been cancelled. There may be a possibility of a one day FCA camp but that will be determined at a later date.
The team will still have the week before 4th of July off and right now that is the only scheduled off time as Coach Whittemore stated that the week before season may need to be utilized since we didn’t have a Spring to practice.
If you have not paid for summer workouts yet you can either pay through the website (Paypal) or send a check with your son on Wednesday or next Monday.
As we receive any more information we will let you know. Excited to be back!
